Coffee + Intermittent Fasting = Ketosis, Burning Fat for Fuel
Updated: 10/17/18
To still get all the benefits of autophagy and human growth hormone building, a good practice to start is bullet proof coffee or tea every other day during your morning fast, this creates cycling which is always better than doing the same thing every day and gives you all the benefits of intermittent fasting.
Studies
- Coffee
- Intermittent Fasting
- Ketosis
In 2017, Harvard.edu News research showed that 62% of people in America drink coffee every day and that number seems to be increasing by the year. If caffeine is a problem for you, opt for caffeine free and still reap the benefits.
Studies show coffee lowers your risk for:
- premature death
- cancer
- heart disease
- Alheimer’s
- Type II Diabetes
- Parkinson’s
- respiratory diseases
Bullet Proof or Fat coffee during a morning fasting ritual will put or keep you in ketosis so your body is burning fat for fuel instead of glucose and you will not feel like you are starving yourself. The healthy fats in your cup of “joe” will satisfy your food cravings, with a sweet spot at about 4 cups per day. To reap the most benefits here is a list of things to bring your health benefits to the next level:
- Organic Beans
- Fresh ground is always best
- Low Acid Higher Antioxidants
- MCT Oil – promotes ketones
- Ghee – strengthen your immune system, good for your eyes, prevents some forms of cancer
- Coconut Milk – manganese, copper, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, potassium
- flavored stevia drops – builds strong bones, replaces sugar!!!
- Chaga – supports immune system, anti-inflammatory, source of superoxide dismutases (SOD)
- Blend with a frother for 30-60 seconds to vortex and create structure
Blended coffee with your favorite healthy add ins, creates your custom hot cafe’ smoothie – lol
Drinking coffee can be a form of meditation for some. Just enjoying the aroma and taste, relaxing before a busy day begins. This can also be a great time to reflect on the things in your life you are grateful for. Studies show meditation and being grateful reduces stress, increases happiness and promotes longevity.
Spread the love! Friends and family don’t always find it easy to eat healthy and do the best things for their body, but they likely drink coffee daily. Gift them a bag of organic coffee beans and a grinder and let them know how much you cherish them and want them to be healthy and happy!
Chaga
You can add Chaga to your coffee in a few different ways, I don’t recommend the powder. If you put powder in your filter it will clog it and brew so slowly you will not be happy. So to reap the benefits you can purchase an extract liquid or brew the tea and use that for the water you pour into your maker, or if you use a pour over type system you can boil the chaga mushroom in your water to pour over your grind. Use the same mushroom up to 6 times. Why? Chaga
prevents and treats cancer, stimulates your immune system, is a potent anti-viral, reduces inflammation, improves physical endurance, increases NK cells by 300% (Natural killer cells are a type of lymphocyte (a white blood cell) and a component of your innate immune system. NK cells play a major role in the rejection of both tumors and virally infected cells), has an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity or measure of anti-oxidant capacity) Value of 52,000, contains 215 phytochemicals, and has 50x more SOD (an important antioxidant defense in nearly all living cells exposed to oxygen) than any other medicinal mushroom.
Coffee Alternatives
Dandy Blend and/or Black Tea
Dandy Blend is a popular coffee replacement that gets a healthy does of dandelion into your daily routine. Benefits include: over 50 trace minerals per cup, digestion aid, kidney support, liver support, antioxidant, cancer fighting, regulates blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, anti-inflammatory, and boosts immune function.
Black Tea one of the most consumed drinks in the world is also a good coffee substitute with it’s own benefits: improves your gut microbiome, can aid in weight loss, helps fight against free radicals, improves cardiovascular health, reduces your cancer risk, helps regulate blood sugar levels, contains less caffeine than coffee and an amino acid called L-theanine, which can improve alertness and focus. L-theanine increases alpha activity in your brain, resulting in relaxation and better focus.
